Microsoft Security Essentials

I'm new to wsus offline and I'm running into a problem installing patches. I have a windows 10 x64 desktop and laptop. I'm trying to patch them from a new build. However, when I load the updateinstaller.exe on the client side the checkbox for Microsoft Security Essentials is greyed out. I've double checked it is checked on the build side and tried multiple times to re-run it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's correct. MSSE is only applicable to Vista and Windows 7. Windows Defender replaced MSSE starting with Windows 8 (IIRC), so you only need to install updates for that.

oh crap your right. I totally forgot. I still feel like I'm missing some patches. The only patch that shows up in the update history is KB84338853. I would think with a fresh install there would be more. Am I making a stupid mistake somewhere? Thanks again!

Mistake yes, stupid no.

WOU installs most updates as CAB using the MS DISM tool. For a reason only MS knows, those do not appear in WU History. But they do appear in "Installed updates"!

Oh geez your right. They are buried in another installed updates menu. That's ridiculous. Thanks for your help! You saved me a ton of time!
