Brazilian Portuguese - Options

Postby yodog » 10.02.2011, 17:51

I'm from Brazil and I just downloaded the WSUS v6.7.2. I'm getting the MS updates for my Windows 7 and Office 2007 (all in Brazilian Portuguese).
In my first test I selected all check boxes from Options, including the Microsoft Security Essentials, but taking a look at the folder \client\msse\x86-glb\ the only files I could find were mpam-fe.exe, mseinstall-x86-deu.exe and mseinstall-x86-enu.exe. In fact only versions in German and English were downloaded.
Is there a way to include the Brazilian Portuguese version of all files, not only the update ones?

Thanks in advance and congratulation for the excellent software!
Best regards,
Paulo.

Welcome yodog!

Yes, there is.
Please copy the line from .\static\StaticDownloadLinks-msse-x86-ptb.txt to the beginning of the file .\static\StaticDownloadLinks-msse-x86-glb.txt. The same applies to Vista-x86.
For the x64-versions the files are .\static\StaticDownloadLinks-msse-x64-ptb.txt and .\static\StaticDownloadLinks-msse-x64-glb.txt.
You can delete the lines with the de-de and/or en-us versions when not needed. (No blank lines except the last line!)
This is because Vista- and Windows 7 updates are not language specific.

Thanks harry for your prompt reply!

Just another question: I don't want to update/install IE9 in Windows 7. Can I mess around with the files StaticDownloadLinks-w61-x64-glb.txt and StaticDownloadLinks-w61-x86-glb.txt cleaning their contents? This will work or just destroy everything? :D

Yodog!

No problem, just remove the lines with the IE9 downloadlinks.

One thing I forgot to mention: currently you must do the changes everytime WOU is updated :!:

Hi!

To increase comfort and consistency, I just ( http://trac.wsusoffline.net/browser/trunk (r209)) added missing "custom" directory support for StaticDownloadLinks-msse-<architecture>-glb.txt (and StaticDownloadLinks-dotnet.txt), so in your ...\static folder, you just have to
Code: Select all
copy StaticDownloadLinks-msse-x86-ptb.txt custom\StaticDownloadLinks-msse-x86-glb.txt

and
Code: Select all
copy StaticDownloadLinks-ie8-w60-x86-ptb.txt custom\StaticDownloadLinks-w60-x86-glb.txt

to have the Brazilian versions of IE8 and MSSE integrated.
As boco mentioned in viewtopic.php?f=4&t=822, the advantage of the "custom" directories is that their contents won't be overwritten by coming WOU versions.
Note that on the other hand modifications/deletions/removals in/from the original files (e.g. ...\static\StaticDownloadLinks-w60-x86-glb.txt) will of course be overwritten by coming WOU versions.

Regards
Torsten Wittrock
