Hi ive noticed that there are now new and changed files in this directory compared to rs3 sxs folder.

My question is will wsus still install .net3 as the file name has changed and there is an extra file for .net3
Also the other 2 files what are they for and are these also needed to be installed?

the filenames are :

microsoft-windows-internetexplorer-optional-package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~.cab
Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-GB~.cab
microsoft-windows-netfx3-ondemand-package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~.cab
Microsoft-Windows-NetFx3-OnDemand-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-GB~.cab

wsusou uses the "dism /enable-fetaure"-command to install .NET 3.5 on Windows 8 or newer. The searching logic is implemented into Windows. As all systems I set up run .NET 3.5 and I never had problems using this command, I'd say yes.

@aker: The files can be offline-integrated into the media, so I also would like to know, if any changes are needed...

I never did it offline, but online it works the same way as before.

@WSUSUpdateAdmin
When reviewing the Sxs-code, I found one thing, which could be relevant:
Could we integrate into another folder? I didn't test it, but think, it could cause problems, when trying to intergrate e.g. 14393 .NET 3.5 into 16299.
A path like ".\client\<platform>\glb\sxs_<build>" (e.g. ".\client\w100-x64\glb\sxs_16299") could help.

If you look at a rs3 sxs folder there are only 2 files and with a rs4 sxs has 4 files also the filenames are totally different names and different sizes so i agree it could corrupt different versions of .net if windows build is different

@negg
But compare the TH1 to RS3 ones. They use the same naming of the files. ("microsoft-windows-netfx3-ondemand-package.cab")
ISOs I checked:
- Win10_10240_German_x32.iso & Win10_10240_German_x64.iso
- Win10_10586_German_x32.iso & Win10_10586_German_x64.iso
- Win10_1607_German_x32.iso & Win10_1607_German_x64.iso
- Win10_1703_German_x32.iso & Win10_1703_German_x64.iso
- Win10_1709_German_x32.iso & Win10_1709_German_x64.iso

So it looks like this was a recent change, then. Maybe in the UUP context.

If i can find some time ill download rs3 and do a VM install of it and use the latest sxs net files see if it reports any install errors. (could take me a while i have a partner who wont let me go on a computer much, unless some one else can test it???? probs do a test on rs1 and rs2 as well)
