Please open c:\windows\wsusofflinupdate.log with a texteditor like notepad and post the content of this file.
What's the username on the affected machines (The name of the user account you are running the computer with?
-> maybe one of our scripts has problems if the username contains special characters.

Are you able to create a new user account with admin rights on these machines ?
Try a new user like "update", give him Admin rights and reboot to this user. Try to install the updates again.

The username is all standard characters and the user is in the Administrator's group. I can add a new user to test if you like. I took at wsusofflineupdate.log and copied the notes by hand.

Would you like to do a test?

1. Create a directory C:\TEMP
2. Open the System properties of the affected machine.
3. Navigate to the Advanced tab and press ''Environment Variables''.
4. In the ''User variables for <yourusername>'' section, double click both the TEMP and TMP variables and enter C:\TEMP as Variable value. Just for easy reversal, the default is ''%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\TEMP''.
5. After setting both to C:\TEMP, log out and on again. That should initialize the variables properly. To be absolutely sure, restart the machine.
6. Test installing the updates again. There is a much better chance of success as you are now using a short TEMP path with no spaces.

Please tell us the result.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=589#p3086

At the begining of SafeRmDir.cmd changing
Code: Select all
if "%1"=="" goto NoParam

to
CODE: SELECT ALL
if '%1'=='' goto NoParam

seems to solve the problem which is caused by the double-double quotes.

This seems to have resolved the issue for me; I believe the problem may be due to the disabled 8.3 name generation...

You should have mentioned that. I think even Microsoft warns about possible consequences.

The machines I'm working with are rather locked down, so it was difficult narrowing down what could possible be causing it. Even now I'm just making an educated guess.

Thank you.

Since this seems to be a "safe" fix, I integrated it for v. 6.8.
