Hai,

i'm working on a fresh resetted Notebook with Windows 7 SP1 (Acer Travelmate P276-M).

Installing the updates was never a problem although i have the WSUSoffline on a seperate server.

First
Now i have the strange problem, that *some* updates gave me a error:

Attached is the complete Log file who shows that about 100 updates worked and then suddenly these failed...

After rebooting and starting again the failed updates were installed - but this seems for me not the wanted / standard behavior.

Second
After adding the notebook to my domain i got some updates.
So far, so good - but also the SP1 update for Windows 7 !

Errorlevel 14 means
Code: Select all
ERROR_OUTOFMEMORY
    14 (0xE)
Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
assuming this is a System Error Code. I see from your log that the failed updates are all at the end of the first installation attempt, and they were installed fine in the next run of WSUS Offline. Probably the system had not enough RAM available to successfully install the updates at first; this is a known issue of the Windows Update Agent, which is also why WSUS Offline installs a maximum number of updates per run and requests a system reboot upon reaching this number.

Regarding the Service Pack 1 after running WSUS Offline: This is completely normal. If you look closely you can see that its size is about 9 MB or so, so it's not the full SP but only a fraction of it.

It has installed
starting line 143 till 229 = 87 updates
and failed from 230 till 245 = 16 updates

The notebook has 4 GB of RAM, so maybe the script of the installer should be a bit modified?

Not really. If it fails with this code on your system, make sure you free as much memory as possible by closing all programs, background tasks and so on. Windows Update is a memory hog, especially when installing many updates in a row without a reboot. As I said, WSUS Offline tries to prevent such situations by limiting the number of updates per run (RAM multiplied by 40 on x64 and RAM multiplied by 60 on x86). You can set the number of updates per stage yourself in wsusoffline\client\cmd\custom\SetUpdatesPerStage.cmdt (and rename the file to *.cmd), but unfortunately WSUS Offline corrects values smaller than 40, so the lower limit is hard-coded to 40.

Thanks, i'm sure no expert on this... i'm happy i found the right lines out of the log. ;-)

I didn't. It's a known thing that Windows Update offers SP1 again after a clean Win7 SP1 installation, even after installing all available updates via WSUS Offline.

And a big SORRY for the uploaded files... what a $... site!

Perhaps use filehorst.de (judging from your log you use a German system) or pastebin.com.

"storage" normally means HDD space. Could you check that, too?

4 GB RAM should be enough.

Sure... 395 GB free of 435 GB...

As i mentioned, the notebook was fresh resetted via
- create 4 installation DVDs
- booting + installing via DVD
- uninstall the crapware
- do updates via WSUS Offline

Thanks for your help.
If you need more informations please feel free.

Sounds like some kind of OEM recovery DVD. Those usually behave strange...

Try this:
- go to C:\Windows\Logs\DISM and remove all files inside (DISM.log and a few CABs)
- do the same for C:\Windows\Logs\CBS (CBS.log might be locken and cannot be deleted)
- reboot
- run wsusou and wait for it to install the first update
- close the cmd-window
- wait about 1 minute
- copy DISM.log and CBS.log and post a link to them here

Also try this:
Download KB4025252 for Windows 7 x64 from here: http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com ... ?q=4025252
Try to manually install.
What happens?

Till here it was all fun, but
Where can i find "wsusou"?

Neither on my Windows 7 machine nor in the wsusoffline folder...

Or is this the "WSUS Offline Updater" which works on my "Dienste" server...?
I connect through network to the folder and start "Update installer".

So should i do this on my server or on the notebook?

Can i do this without hesitating the Logs from the above try?

Please keep in mind, that the notebook is now member of my domain... after the WSUS offline script said "no more updates"
but i can kick it and try this as workgroup.

Thanks for your help.

First of all: wsusou = WSUS Offline Update
I just didn't want to write the whole name. What I meant was running the UpdateInstaller.

The logs should be taken from the client, which gives out the Error 14.
In this case don't delete the CABs (you said, wsusou reported "Nothing to do!"), post them, too.

Did you do anything to fix the updates or did wsusou report the error, but the updates got installed ignoring the error?

No, i did nothing (other) after the failed updates than reboot and in the next wsusou session they where successfully installed.

So i copy the files back and try a run of the installer.

Then i will post the output in the next post.

Thanks in advance.
