How to Blacklist

How to Blacklist

Postby Kuroo » 15.05.2017, 20:00

I'm not much of a coder but I'm good at learning. I just found this offline updater and think is amazing that I just came across this. I wanted to redo my system but because of stuff Windows does to the new i7 Kirby Lake chips it hard to stay up to date. Plus I think Windows 10 is still going to go south an crash, anyway I'm happy with my Windows 7 Pro. I wanted to know if I redo my system, I notice WSUAOffline download everything, which is not that bad. but is there a way to blacklist some KB so that they don't install even if they are downloaded? If so how does one go about doing it? I don't find much help in a way to blacklist the KB's stuff in the user interface windows.

Please note that WOU is only an alternative way to download and install updates. The installation itself is done by Windows Update, so the Kaby Lake / Ryzen restriction cannot be circumvented by using WOU. There are a few solutions like patching wuaueng.dll, it's playing the old cat and mouse game, again.

For the blacklisting, just create the following file inside the WOU directory:

Code: Select all
.\client\exclude\custom\ExcludeList.txt

Enter the KB numbers of the updates to blacklist (kbxxxxxxx). Each number on one line, last line must be terminated by one RETURN.
Microsoft update catalog: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/
Windows Install media download: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15088/windows-create-installation-media
