How to upgrade service pack with WSUS?

Hi guys,
After leaving it for a day to download updates, and another day to install all of it -- looks like progress! (See screenshot attached). I left it overnight but this is what was installed. I did it in bits so potentially there is even more updates before.

I left it updating overnight and found my laptop on just now so I assume all updates I downloaded are done (?)

I am still on service pack 1 just now with some updates. How can I get to the latest version of windows? I am trying to install software that needs a later version (later than SP1)

I would use windows update previously but it never found updates after 3 days and no fixes worked except for this.

Is it safe to use normal windows update now? I have Windows Update disabled as I saw recommended on this forum.

What Windows version do you use? If you're not sure whether or not all available updates are installed: just run WSUS Offline Update (UpdateInstaller) until it says "Nothing to do".

Windows update says all up to date but the wsus updater seems to keep finding things! Maybe I have to leave it longer

whoops so sorry. Win7.

Okay. Here's the log. You'll see it did the bulk of the updates last night/overnight then some more just now. HOWEVER press Ctrl+F and search for 'warning'. At the very bottom of the code it shows it's stuck on something but cant understand what. Too many characters to post it all so only included the most recent times I've run it.

Searching for "kb3126446" reveals that this update locks some systems into a reboot loop, so maybe it's better if this update isn't installed successfully . On the other hand this can be prevented by creating an image of the system before installing any updates - which I strongly recommend, because it eliminates the need to reinstall the system in case of problems.

Thanks for the help. Been away for New Years but when I'm back I'll sort it. My problem is this. I'm trying to install a software that keeps giving me an error message saying I need to install all important updates before the software will install. windows update says I've installed them all -- and WSUS I guess is done except for these two? Do you perhaps have any suggestions on what I could do? Does this software require .NET Framework, Visual C++ Redist or similar runtimes? There are a couple of different versions of each of them. Perhaps you don't have the one installed the software depends on.

IMO that can't be right. As long as WSUS Offline tries to install updates, there are some of them missing. Even more, WSUS Offline only contains security updates, not the optional ones and IIRC not the recommended ones either, meaning that Windows Update will find more updates than WSUS Offline has available. Unfortunately I don't know what could be wrong with Windows Update that it doesn't find any missing updates... Do you have any updates hidden?

As I said: try to install the updates again by running WSUS Offline again. One of the updates has been installed successfully on the second attempt, maybe the second update will do so too. Regardless of the attempt's result, you should run WSUS Offline as often as needed, until it says "Nothing to do".
