KB 2810048 not recognized

I just noticed that the updater does not recognize an already installed KB 2810048 (Excel security update). No matter how often you install the update, the updater will still identify it as missing and thus install it again each time it is run. This behavior is fully reproducible with Office 2003 on Windows XP.

Has anyone else observed this?
Any chance to have it fixed in the next release?

Hi!

This seems to be a problem introduced by Microsoft. With Windows Update the same symptom occurs. So I think we have to wait for Microsoft to fix that one.

Besides that, the funny thing on my system is that Excel 2003 isn't even installed here (only Word 2003 and Office 2013). But on another computer with Excel 2003 installed, the problem is also there.

I see. So is there a predestined way to notify Microsoft? (I am not aware of one, but I'd like to see them informed.)

V1.1 (September 13, 2013): Revised bulletin to announce detection changes for the Microsoft Excel 2003 update (2810048), Microsoft Excel 2007 update (2760583), Microsoft Excel Viewer update (2760590), and Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack update (2760588). These are detection changes only. There were no changes to the update files. Customers who have successfully installed the updates do not need to take any action. Also updated the Known Issues entry in the Knowledge Base Article section from "Yes" to "None".
