Using 8.3 for XP (x86) updates

Using 8.3 for XP (x86) updates

Postby Romulus » 12.04.2013, 04:53

Greetings to all,
I am new to this web site, and would like some guidance.
I downloaded and installed v 8.3, ran the generator and selected the option for Windows XP/Server 2003 x64 editions (w2k3-x64) and ticked the box for English.
Other options ticked were:

Clean up download directories
Verify downloaded updates
Include Service Packs
Include C++ Runtime Libraries and .Net Frameworks
Include Microsoft Security Essentials
Include Windows Defender definitions
per selected product and language

After downloading 2.1 GB of data, the program created an ISO, which I burned to a DVD.
When I tried to run the DVD on the same laptop, it came up with the info -

Starting WSUS Offline Update <v. 8.3> at 12:35:16.09...
Checking user's priveleges...
Determining system's properties...
Determining DirectX main version...
Found OS caption: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Found Microsoft Windows version 5.1.2600 <wxp x86 enu sp3>
Checking medium content...
Medium build date: 04/12/2013
Medium does not support Microsoft Windows <wxp x86 enu>.ERROR:Medium neither supports your Windows nor your Office Version.
Ending WSUS Offline Update at 12:36:21.21...
D:\cmd>

Does ticking the option for ' Windows XP/Server 2003 x64 editions (w2k3-x64) ' only give updates for XP in (x64)?
And if so, is there no other option for users who have (x86) systems?
Or is there something else I overlooked due to inexperience?
Any guidance much appreciated.
Regards,
R.

Yes, exactly.
And if so, is there no other option for users who have (x86) systems?
Windows x86 is on the ''Legacy products'' tab since it is in the final year of support.
