Please note the actual program doing the downloading is an external utility named wget.

And yes, some MS mirrors behave strangely. But even if you downloaded it externally and placed it where it belongs, you still have to clear appropriate file inside the ./client/md directory to have it regenerated.

Ok. Well replacing the .cab did it. There is nothing in the md folder. I just get validation errors. I guess I forgot to turn off validation. The validation issue has been going on for a while throughout several versions.

That's strange. Again, the validation is done by a third-party utility, named hashdeep. http://sf.net/projects/md5deep It's from the U. S. Air Force and should therefore work. I never had problems, apart from messing up myself (e. g. terminating the script at the wrong place).
