Sharing updates files in LAN

Sharing updates files in LAN

Postby thorsten » 02.05.2012, 08:22

Hi,

I'd like to use the downloaded updates for multiple hosts (basically like a poor man's WSUS) by putting the updates on a network share.

Is it possible to specify for UpdateGenerator in which folder I want the updates to be downloaded and is it possible for UpdateInstaller to specify from which folder to get the updates?

Right now, I only found a FAQ entry which explains how to put the whole wsusoffline onto a network share. I'd rather prefer to separate the binaries/scripts from the data (the updates).

The only thing you have to do is, mounting the network share as a network drive.
Then you will be able to run UpdateGenerator and UpdateInstaller from your "Server".

There is no way to run WSUSOU from HDD and use files, which are at a network share.

I'd rather prefer to separate the binaries/scripts from the data (the updates).
Then you should share only the ./client subdirectory.

Doesn't the Installer take care of that itself?
