Installer hangs at Listing ids of missing updates...

I will try to get that for you ASAP. Where are the logs saved? I am hoping not in one of the account specific folders - I ran the CleanupRecall.cmd and the account has been removed.

After about 24hrs and no apparent progress, I restarted wuauserv and it immediately said 'Done...' and continued on with the updates. Some of them appear to be ok and others explicitly return a fail. The Windows boot messages indicate the update failed and is reverting back. Windows shows no updates at all. It eventually got stuck on Listing id's again. I broke out of the script for now until I can find something to try.

Here is my log file. Before I found the script RemoveRecall.cmd, I manually removed the temp account.

At the moment, reading, reading, and more reading trying to chase this down......fingers crossed I will get this machine sorted.

Please try the following: boot into safe mode. Then delete the content of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution (just the content, not the folder itself). Reboot back to normal and retry.

I did that previously and did not seem to do anything productive. At the moment, the computer is dealing with backing up a ton of data so I cannot restart for a while.

I tried to manually install KB3135445, KB3138612, KB3172605, and some others and the system return that they are not applicable to this system. Is there a way to 'force' and update even if Windows does not think its needed?

Copy the file to some path, whe you have write rights, them enter the following commands into an administrative command prompt:

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:.\tmp

That is an interesting technique - trying it now to see what happens. Never knew that was possible. Solid notes.

I did another try of clearing the SoftwareDistribution from outside of windows and trying again. Still seems to be stuck on the Listing Id's, Windows will not update on it's own either. Also, updated to WSUS 10.8.1.

Do you have any suggestions of what KBxxxxx I should focus on getting installed first? Maybe the absence of one in particular is keeping the floodgates closed?

So I tried to expand the .msu file and it echoed all the binary data on the console. Looked up the syntax of expand.exe and could not figure out why. It did not create a file, .CAB, or anything other than console jibberish. Still researching options and education on that one.

Focusing on those two at the moment. Maybe using DISM directly from the console will work, but I have to exand the .msu first.

KB3177467 and KB3172605 are the most important ones since your system still uses an old Update Agent (7.6.7600.320). Normally WSUS Offline tries to install these updates first, and it did so on your system - successfully it seems (I don't see any errors regarding both updates). However, I'm wondering why the Update Agent is still an old one ...

One more thing: You can unpack the .msu files with 7zip - this may be easier to use than the CMD commands.

I was wondering about the KB3177467 and KB3172605 updates as I had read that they are the most critical outside this thread and they appear to be installing correctly. The 'Installed updates' reports No updated are installed on this computer, 'Update History' reports no updates have been attempted. Scratching head......

At least I have the .CAB's now and can use DISM directly to install. See what happens.
