EDIT: BTW, the shutdown issue was because some weird "NT Apm" device was disabled. It had nothing to do with wsusoffline.

NT APM is probably the Advanced Power Management service. The machine must be older then, newer systems use ACPI for this.

I installed it with the "Standard PC" HAL because I don't need power management, much less broken power management. Never thought it'd bite me later
