AutoLogon with WOUAdmin doesn't work

AutoLogon with WOUAdmin doesn't work

Postby ladiko » 21.10.2011, 14:44

Hello,

i tried v7.0 and v7.0+ r299 but with both i got the problem, that i use AutoReboot, which creates the user WOUAdmin, but after the restart it doesn't login. I am running / updating XP SP3 machines. After the reboot it waits on the welcome screen and i have to login to the normal admin account as i don't know the password of the WOUAdmin and then with admin the offline update is proceeding.

which information do you need to help me? a snippet of the wsusofflineupdate logfile is attached.

So it seems like i am the only one with this problem? The log file looks like it should work. I tried it on several computers, but can't figure out the reason. Is there any dependency for the AutoLogon to work?

Hi!

Is it one machine or more which shows this problem?
Do you start updating by UpdateInstaller.exe or directly using Update.cmd/DoUpdate.cmd on the command line?
Could you test Autologon.exe manually on that machine?

I started UpdateInstall.exe, ticked some options and used Process Explorer to get the correct commandline for Update.cmd. I use this commandline at the end of a cmd-file that is started in an unattended windows installation at GuiRunOnce (first logon of an admin user).

start /wait C:\_INSTALL\wsusoffline\client\Update.cmd /nobackup /instie8 /updatecpp /updatedx /updatewmp /updatetsc /instdotnet4 /instpsh /instmsse /instofccnvs /verify /autoreboot

On the other hand it seems like the cleanup neither delete the WOUTempAdmin nor the RegKey in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I will try to start it with UpdateInstaller on monday. how to use AutoLogon.exe by hand? Just execute it and then reboot and it should autologon the WOUTempAdmin?

Hi!

To run a batch from another one, use the "call" statement instead of "start /wait".
And try the GUI...
