Success, turned web shield and file shield off for the duration of the download and everything comes down (don't know if others running other antivirus software would need to do something similar)
It's not until everything starts to work that my initial failure was for just the 1st file!

I have WOU in exclusions for ages now. All works perfectly.

If avast! has the problem, AVG has, too. Both are from the same company and use the same Backend, only the GUI differs.
