I'm sorry but shouldn't an automated tool to assist with updating be capable of updating itself when Microsoft moves stuff around? Or at the very least just skip the one single bad piece of info and run the rest of the script to completion while logging the error?

The stuff in question (.NET Framework) is includeded statically because AFAIK it isn't included in the Windows Update catalog (wsusscn2.cab). There is no way that WOU could "update itself" because it can't know the new URLs. However, as I explained in another thread: WOU has an update feature that downloads updated static link lists from download.wsusoffline.net. But this requires that someone (i.e. the WOU author) to update these lists, which just takes time sometimes.

This would not be useful. Imagine someone downloading a fresh copy of WOU, extracting it, downloading all updates for some Windows version and wondering afterwards why .NET Framework (or any other package for that matter) doesn't get installed. What I'm trying to say is that UpdateInstaller depends on some of the parts downloaded by UpdateGenerator. Canceling the operation is the most reasonable behavior at this stage. However, the error message style could be improved, although I don't know how exactly it should look like. But hey, it's open source, so anyone can contribute .

yes the donation page works. However if you click on the donation button in the application it says invalid parameter. Although small I did donate 5.00 USD. Figure if everyone who uses and appreciates this app could pitch in 5.00 would really help you/this site out. Thank you again developers fr all your work.

I copied and pasted the correct URL for .Net and all appears to be working. Thank you. On a side note, for those of us who are lazy... Its the static folder on the root of WSUSOffline not the one in the client dir.

Not on any of my systems. Sounds like something is wrong on your system. The WOU scripts run the following command when the donation button is clicked:

Nothing fancy at all, only simple system functions. Could be @ComSpec variable is wrong on your system. Do you want to investigate this further? If so, I'd split these posts to a new topic and make some suggestions on how we might be able to track down the culprit.
