One download locks at 73%

One download locks at 73%

While doing a fresh download of WSUS offline, I noticed that one download capped at 73%, then stopped downloading as a different download took its place.

Will this be a problem when updating Windows? Is there any way to fix this?

Also, what happens if I run WSUS for a second time? Will it wipe my previous downloads or add to them?

For context, I am downloading for Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks everyone.

I think what you saw is just the wget "Retry" display. If a download stalls, it will be stopped and resumed automatically. No problem with this. Just keep an eye out for "Deleted unsigned file" messages in the log. Unsigned file = truncated or otherwise corrupted download. Otherwise, you should be good to go.

Doing another download run will
- download the updated catalog file from MS (if there's any new one),
- download new updates,
- does an integrity check for existing ones,
- delete those that are no longer needed (replaced by newer updates).

There are no bad effects when running downloads more that one time. Worst case: Nothing changes because everything is up-to-date.

Ok, so I actually found a "delete unsigned file" message in my log. What should I do about this?

Simple doing a new download run should catch and get the corrupted dowwnload. Note that it often fails with regularly-changing files like the Defender or Antimalware signatures. Avast users might also have to uncheck Archive scanning inside the resident file scanning shield.
