wsusscn2.cab signature verification failure?

Greetings!

First and foremost, the WSUS Offline Update tool is a Godsend for those of us who just LOVE to spend hours looking at the "checking for updates" progress bar wooshing back-and-forth. . . .

System:
WSUS version 10.8 (current as of this instant date)

Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop running Windows 7 64 bit that was updated as of April of 2015.
(This was saved as an Acronis True Image backup image and I use it to restore/rebuild my system)

Selected Products:
Win7 64 bit
Office 2010

Selected Options:
Verify downloaded updates
Include C++ runtime libraries and .NET frameworks
Include Service Packs
Include Windows Defender definitions

Issue:
During the update generation process, I keep getting the following error:

I tried searching for "wsusscn2.cab", but the search dialog says that this is "too common" and did not search on it. ( )

I tried installing the latest static file from your One Drive, and that did not help either.

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on here?

If you check out the Download forum you'll see that this problem is currently top #1. Ms is currently offering corrupt and unsigned versions of their wsusscn2.cab catalog. There's no solution but to retry until you get a valid one. Some people try different DNS servers as it seems to be a region thing.

Note that once you have a valid catalog, WSUSOU will keep a backup and re-use it until you manage to get a newer, signed one.

I could be really snarky and say that M$ is sending "corrupt" (screwy, unstable, etc. ) OPERATING SYSTEMS, and it really doesn't depend on your DNS. . .

Actually, it's not snarky - most of the reviews for the downloaded version of Win-10 complain of corrupted downloads too!

Seriously, thanks for the info. I DID try to search, but (for whatever reason), this forum's search engine won't let me search on that term. What I ultimately did was to let WSUS Offline Update do what it could, and let Windows Update fill in the gaps. The corrupted file does explain one thing. . . During the Windows Update process, I would get weird errors that even "get help for this error" couldn't help with.
