This may be where my understanding is wrong. I thought that UpdateGenerator itself is 7.2 and built from trunk, and it downloads the UpdateInstaller and all the updates. I didn't think there was a version number on the UpdateInstaller or at least it used the same version number as the UpdateGenerator that built it.WSUSOU UpdateGenerator downloads the newest main release, which is 7.2 (built from trunk r322).
WSUSOU-Updater checks the newest trunk (currently r332) and downloads it.
I run WSUSOS-Updater (v0.7c), which downloads trunk (332), and I thought that it then used that to update the Update Generator, but when I then run the Update Generator, the log includes the following line:
Mon 01/02/2012 13:40:31.12 - Info: Starting WSUS Offline Update download (v. 7.2+ (r329)) for wxp enu
Why does this still say r329? That's higher than 322, so it's been updated from the original 7.2 install - but I would think it would be up to 332, since that's what the Updater has.
If you want to keep update files just overwrite the WSUSOU files.
At least I understand if I download a new UpdateGenerator zip file I can just replace the old files, leaving the update files that have already been downloaded. Hopefully this won't be necessary, if WSUSOU-Updater does keep the WSUSOU-UpdateGenerator up to date.
I think if it would help if there were a document that explained how these different pieces fit together. Thanks for helping me work through understanding this.
