Downloading NEW updates while keeping the OLD ones?

How can I download all the new patches and updates to my USB stick while keeping the old downloaded updates as well which is also on the USB stick?
Please explain in detail.

I use the UpdateGenerator file to download all the updates to a USB stick which I did today.

But what happens if Microsoft releases new updates? How can I keep the OLD updates on my USB stick as well while adding new ones to it?
Hope this will not over-ride any old updates as I wish to keep the old ones too incase I have to reinstall Windows.

Which settings would prevent the new updates from overwriting over the old existing downloads of the updates?

Thanks!

WSUSOU will keep all updates required to get a system fully up-to-date security-wise. It will only delete updates which have been superseded by later revisions.

If you want to keep superseded Updates, please uncheck the box "Cleanup UP"

Ok, but how will I know if the WSUSO Generator will download new Microsoft updates?

So how can I tell if new updates are downloaded?

I just want WSUSO to download all security patches that Microsoft releases every month. Thats all.
Then I can continue to add those onto my USB along with the older updates.

Please explain.

And what is the standard settings that most people would use in WSUSO? Is it to CHECK the option to Clean Up Directories options? Or, is it best to leave it UNCHECKED? Please help me decide.... :? :?

Thanks.

You will see in the download log if new updates have ben downloaded. Start it at least once a month (after patchday).

Best is to leave the option checked, since superseded updates will never be called again. The installer uses the same catalog like the downloader.

So far It had downloaded 42 updates.
If I start it again next month for the December patches, the number of updates should be higher than 42?

Thanks for your support.

No, since already downloaded updates are skipped.
If MS releases 5 new updates only these 5 updates are downloaded resulting in a total number of 47 updates on your disk.
If 1 update superceedes an older updates this older update is "cleaned up" (deleted), resulting in a total of 46 updates on your disk.

UpdateGenerator logs only Updates, which are downloaded new.
The Updates you have in the .\client directory won't be listed.

Ok, so far I understand.

So for example, next month, I need to hit the Start Button on the UpdateGenerator.exe file again and the updates for December should be downloaded.
Am I correct?

Thx.

Yes, you are correct so far: IF there are NEW updates they will be downloaded and ADDED to your repositry. Older Updates will stay: EVER if they are further needed, and "supersedded"-updates IF you uncheck the "cleanup"-box.
But, as boco wrote above: because the supersedded updates will never be used (NEVER NEEDED) it is usefull to leave the option checked ;-)
Sorry for my bad english
