Hi All,

It's a great solution to the Windows 7 Update issues but i need to remove it now - where have you hidden the uninstaller?

(please note there is this question on the forum but it is still unanswered)

Thanks in advance.

There's no need for an uninstaller. Just delete the WSUS Offline directory on your disk and you're done.

Hi Dalai,

Thanks for this - i told you i was a newbie! lol!

A quick one if i can - in your instructions on the minimum patches to install to speed up updates in Win 7 when i try to install them i get an error saying "not applicable to this system" (something like that anyway.

I go through through the rest of the steps and it still takes ages - any guidance you can give would be appreciate?

FYI - the system doesn't show me having a single windows update through either updates or through cmd .. strange!

Thanks again

Your system either misses a prerequisite update (like the Servicing Stack update that's required for the July 2016 Rollup) or you're trying to install an update for the wrong architecture, i.e. 32 bit update on Windows 64 bit or 64 bit update on Windows 32 bit. Make sure you have the correct updates (check your system properties to determine whether you're running Windows 32 or 64 bit) and have all prerequisites installed.

Regarding prerequisites: WSUS Offline already takes care of them, i.e. installs them before trying to make the Windows Update Agent search for missing updates. To verify this works correctly, check Control Panel > Windows Update > View Installed Updates (View Update History DOES NOT show all updates installed by WSUS Offline!).

Hi,

Thank you for another great, informative, response!very much appreciate you taking the time to share here.

I stand corrected, I have just shut down after installing 26 'critical' updates - I was just being impatient I think (about 2 hours total for the first check in about 18months).

What I should share from my experience is that it appears that many of the updates were already on my machine but not showing through windows or cmd ... although it is a little simple I think many people simply don't know they have some of the updates already and just how patient you have to be with windows update ... I think this was my issue all along and went to agreesisve with my fixes too soon!

For what it's worth, that's my thoughts on Windows 7 Uodate (it is shocking it takes that long though).

Thank you again, learnt a lot from you.

P.s. ... my system is 64bit and that's all I went for manually but the windows updated pulled down a load of x86 files .... it has installed them also by the looks of things.

Potentially an issue with Windows Updates or MS playing the game a little perhaps?

Like I say, I'm no expert.

Peace.

Define "system". A 32bit Windows OS can be installed on a 64bit system (if "system" means "hardware").
