No. WOU will only get for and install updates to Windows 7 with SP1. SP1 will be installed if not present. Since Windows 7 RTM is EOL, SP1 is mandatory to get any recent updates on Windows 7, anyway.I want to fresh install WIndows7 x64 on my laptop. And want to avoid installing SP1 through the Windows Updater.. But I do want to get the post/subsequent individual updates and even the updates enrolled in the SP1 package individually. Is this possible with WSUS offline?
Since it uses the WU service, WU takes care of that (updates are "staged" and only truly installed at reboot/shutdown). The update process involves some reboots, too, to take care of static updates that need to be installed separately (like the latest IE).Will WSUS offline take care of update installation order, to avoid problems with dependancies on previous updates, and warn me if there are problems?
The WUA and SP1 cannot be prevented, WU Client is required for not having to wait hours or even days for updates to be shown. Will WSUS offline help prevent forced updates (I read that MS is not giving you a choice to prevent updating the WSUS agent and SP1)?
